Upon the request of the Turkish council of Higher Education, on 26th and 27th of July, 2017, the president of the University of Zakho, Assistant professor Dr. Lazgin Jamil Abdi has attended "The Vice Chancellors Forum on Universities in the Islamic World" in Ankara, Turkey. The Vice Chancellors Forum is a non-political event in which senior representatives of higher education come together and collaborate on the development of higher education of the Islamic World.

It is worth mentioning that the fourth event of The VC Forum 2017 was held with the theme "Forming the Higher Education Area of the Islamic World" at the Presidential Complex in Turkey. Likewise, the presidents of Kurdistan universities have also attended this conference, namely Dr. Ahmed Dizey, the president of Salahadin University, Dr. Muslih Duhoki, the president of Dohuk University, Dr. Alan Freydon, the president of Suliemaniya Polytechnic University , Dr. Adnan Muhsin Abdulaziz, the president of Dohuk Polytechnic university and the president of the University of Kerkuk. In addition to this, the President of the Republic of Turkey ,Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, attended the conference during the lunch time and welcomed the delegates of the universities of Kurdistan.
